Oxford Properties Group, a Toronto-based global real estate investor managing over C$80 billion in assets, faced a growing challenge managing complex operational technology (OT) networks across its properties. With dozens of device types — HVAC, lighting, CCTV, building management systems and more — traditional IT discovery only identified about 20% of devices and provided limited metadata, driving high onsite technician costs and inconsistent security controls. Oxford needed a scalable, centrally managed baseline infrastructure that enabled zero-touch provisioning and stronger, repeatable risk-based controls.

Oxford deployed the Fortinet Security Fabric—centered on FortiGate NGFWs and managed through FortiManager, with FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiAnalyzer and FortiGuard services (IPS/IDS, URL filtering, application control). The solution delivered Layer‑7 visibility and device fingerprinting, remote zero‑touch provisioning, faster rollouts and a unified management pane, enabling Oxford to identify compromised devices, reduce administrative overhead and TCO, standardize site deployments, and offer clearer reference architectures to customers.
