Case Study: Barnes Group achieves cost-effective global ZTNA and simplified security management with Fortinet

How ZTNA Is Taking Flight at a Precision-Equipment Manufacturer

Barnes Group Inc., a precision-equipment manufacturer with about 6,500 employees across 100+ global locations and a large presence in aerospace, needed to shrink its cyberattack surface while meeting GDPR and U.S. government contractor requirements. Managing roughly 8,500 endpoints across 17 acquired companies had produced inconsistent security, a heavy hardware footprint at small sites, and a fragmented user experience that conflicted with the company’s cloud-first vision and desire for uniform single sign-on and simplified compliance.

Barnes extended its long-standing Fortinet estate by deploying Fortinet Universal ZTNA with FortiGate NGFWs, FortiClient EMS, FortiAuthenticator, Secure SD‑WAN, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiCare services. The rollout delivered a cost-effective, standardized zero‑trust architecture that strengthened global security, removed the need for costly firewalls at very small offices, streamlined policy management and audits, enabled single sign-on for users, reduced security administration time, and should cut M&A integration time substantially as the deployment completes.
