Globetrotter Leverages Fortinet’s Access Points and Firewalls Easy to Manage and Highly-Secured WLAN

Globetrotter Travel Service AG, a Switzerland-based tour operator with about 250 employees and 22 branches, needed a high‑performance, company‑wide WLAN and perimeter security solution to support its consultants, an iPad travel app and growing customer services. The challenges were secure, segmented wireless access across distributed sites, centralized management and scalable gateway protection for all Internet traffic.

Globetrotter deployed Fortinet FortiAPs managed by FortiGate UTM appliances (including a FortiGate‑600C cluster) to provide a native wireless controller, consolidated UTM features (NGFW, antivirus, IPS, web filtering, VPN) and secure tunnels between APs and the controller. The rollout completed in three months, delivering single‑pane‑of‑glass management, wireless security equal to wired LAN, lower hardware/licensing overhead, and scalable performance that supports guest SSIDs, the consultant app and future wireless payment terminals.
