OutSystems, a global low-code software leader headquartered in Portugal and the U.S., faced growing network and security complexity as it expanded. The team replaced legacy appliances with a FortiGate cluster, Fortinet Secure SD-WAN, and cloud security tools (FortiWeb, FortiView, FortiAnalyzer), redesigned the WAN topology, and migrated internal workloads to a distributed cloud architecture. The changes automated failover, improved visibility, and simplified policy management—cutting firewall rules by about 85%, reducing public IPs by 86%, and significantly lowering operations overhead while increasing resilience.
