Fortinet’s solutions used as the cornerstone of the operator’s network security infrastructure and MSS offering

R is a fiber‑optic telecom operator in Galicia, Spain, with an extensive regional network that needed to modernize its security. Facing eleven distributed Check Point firewalls, growing Gigabit traffic and new service requirements (digital TV, VoD, VoIP) — plus a strategic goal to offer CPE‑based managed security (Centinela‑R) to SMEs — R sought a scalable, high‑performance solution that would centralize management, simplify reporting, and enable per‑customer services.

R deployed Fortinet: four FortiGate‑5050 chassis for core protection, FortiGate‑60 and FortiWiFi‑60B appliances for CPE, and a SOC built on FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer with FortiGuard subscriptions. The result was centralized, virtualized security with higher throughput and availability, simplified administration and clear visibility for customers; R now offers cloud MSS to SMEs, reduced downtime and spam/viruses, improved productivity, and strengthened its position as Galicia’s reference operator.
