Fortinet Secure Wi-Fi Provides Comfort to Families With ILL Children at Ronald Mcdonald House Monash

Ronald McDonald House Monash provides short- and long-term accommodation for families of seriously ill children near Monash Children’s Hospital. As demand grew to more than 450 families a year, the House’s legacy office Wi‑Fi became insufficient and the charity—without a budget and with non‑technical staff hesitant to manage upgrades—couldn’t reliably offer the internet access families needed to stay connected during stressful times.

IntellectIT and Fortinet partnered to donate and deploy a Fortinet solution—8 FortiAP access points, a FortiGate 60D firewall and FortiGuard security services—using PoE cabling for full coverage of bedrooms and communal areas. The secure, traffic‑managed network required minimal day‑to‑day oversight, let staff and families use their devices safely, and significantly improved comfort and support for residents.
