A Fortinet Case Study
Instituto Dominicano de Prevención y Protección de Riesgos Laborales (IDOPPRIL) is the Dominican government agency that administers workers’ compensation for nearly 2.3 million workers across about 94,000 organizations. Facing outdated equipment, inconsistent perimeter security, regulatory compliance requirements, limited visibility into intrusions, and frequent site outages with manual failover, the agency needed a unified, secure connectivity and security strategy to protect sensitive medical and personal data and ensure uninterrupted public services.
IDOPPRIL deployed the Fortinet Security Fabric—including FortiGate NGFWs, FortiSwitch, Fortinet Secure SD‑WAN, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiNAC, FortiSIEM, FortiAuthenticator/Token, and FortiClient—with partner Gold Data and FortiCare support. The phased rollout centralized management for 45 locations, automated link failover for high availability, and gave real‑time visibility and threat detection. Results included secure remote access, faster remote administration, blocked intrusions, and an 85% cost reduction by replacing expensive dedicated lines with internet-based SD‑WAN links.
