A Fortinet Case Study
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic (MIREX), which operates 116 embassies, consulates and diplomatic offices worldwide, needed to modernize after a 2019 government mandate. Its legacy call‑management system and unsupported network gear caused availability and security gaps—malware, compromised sites, uncontrolled devices and Wi‑Fi—so MIREX required a secure, centralized communications platform and a move to a software‑based data‑center model.
MIREX deployed Fortinet’s Security Fabric, including Secure SD‑WAN and FortiGate appliances at remote sites plus FortiSandbox, FortiSIEM, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer for centralized visibility and automated response. The solution (deployed in 26 locations so far, with full rollout planned) consolidated routing and security into a single device, improved threat protection and compliance, simplified IT operations, increased performance and delivered significant cost savings compared with other providers.
