Dominican Republic Bank Achieves High Availability and Security of Its Network

BANFONDESA is a Dominican Republic savings and lending bank created by development fund FONDESA that serves about 300,000 customers across 59 branches (covering roughly 70% of the country). As the bank grew it inherited disparate network and security infrastructure, routing branch internet traffic through two data-center firewalls, which created single points of failure, limited visibility, and higher communications costs. BANFONDESA needed unified management, stronger security, and high availability across all sites.

The bank implemented the Fortinet Security Fabric—deploying FortiGate NGFWs at each branch plus FortiSwitch, FortiAP, Fortinet Secure SD-WAN, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and additional Fortinet security tools (FortiSIEM, FortiNAC, FortiAuthenticator/Token, FortiMail, FortiWeb). This delivered centralized control and segmentation, automated failover with backup links per site, improved threat detection and response, and simplified administration. The result: high-availability communications for 59 locations, broader network visibility, and measurable cost savings with a rapid ROI.
