City Hall of Salvador expands secure Wi‑Fi to 2,000 public spaces with Fortinet

The City Hall of Salvador, a Brazilian municipality and busy tourist destination, faced the challenge of replacing its aging communications network to improve connectivity as part of its Smart City Master Plan. To address this, the city selected Fortinet to deploy a solution that would provide secure, high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity for government agencies, citizens, and tourists.

Fortinet implemented a comprehensive infrastructure using its Security Fabric, which included FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitch switches, and 800 FortiAP access points to provide Wi-Fi to over 2,000 public spaces. Centralized management was achieved with FortiManager. This solution from Fortinet provided the city with simplified security management, complete network visibility, and high availability of digital services, ultimately improving service delivery and reducing operational costs.
