A Fortinet Case Study
Alamance County, North Carolina, a largely rural jurisdiction managing over 23 departments and hundreds of daily calls, needed reliable, centrally managed phone routing that prioritized emergency traffic while staying within a tight budget. Their legacy AT&T Centrex lines gave IT no control and made changes difficult, so the county sought an on-premises, easy-to-manage solution that would scale.
They deployed Fortinet’s FortiVoice FVE‑3000E VoIP system for centralized call control and department-level management of extensions. The cutover was completed in under an hour for 780 phones, handling about 1,400 calls a day with improved routing, reduced operational overhead, and strong post-sale support. The successful rollout also paved the way for additional Fortinet security projects, including two-factor authentication and network segmentation.
