Burger King Brazil Adopts Secure SD-WAN to Improve Connectivity and Security

Burger King Brazil, the master franchisee for BURGER KING® and POPEYES® in Brazil (over 800 Burger King and 23 Popeyes restaurants), faced rising infrastructure and data‑security demands as customer volume grew and sensitive information (such as CPF and ID data) was collected across stores. An internal review identified gaps in network visibility, control and automation, prompting a search for a streamlined, enterprise‑grade cybersecurity and connectivity solution.

The company standardized on Fortinet technologies—notably FortiGate Secure SD‑WAN, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiSwitch—deploying the model in 70 restaurants and making it the template for new openings. Centralized management and SD‑WAN cut connectivity costs, improved in‑store availability, revealed and stopped excessive background bandwidth use, and improved threat detection, yielding a ~26% reduction in open connectivity incidents; Burger King Brazil plans to expand the rollout to 150 restaurants and adopt the broader Fortinet Security Fabric.
