A Fortinet Case Study
AmigoCloud is a cloud-native GIS big-data platform provider that helps customers collect, store and analyze geospatial data for use cases ranging from utilities and transportation to government intelligence. The company faced reliability, visibility and security gaps after using a piecemeal open‑source firewall: limited throughput, poor failover and insufficient network visibility made it hard to meet strict U.S. government security requirements, enforce network separation for sensitive on‑premises analysis, and comply with a 48‑hour outage SLA.
AmigoCloud partnered with Fortinet to deploy FortiGate next‑generation firewalls in HA, FortiSwitches, the FortiGate UTM bundle and 24×7 FortiCare, fully prototyping and documenting the air‑gapped install for the agency. The container‑aware solution integrated with Kubernetes to give end‑to‑end visibility and automated address updates, improved availability from 98.90% to 99.99%, saved staff time (roughly 15 hours/month each for DNS and alert handling), avoided capital GPU spend, and met the agency’s strict SLA while simplifying security management.
