Bozzuto’s Inc., a New England wholesale distributor that supports about 190 independently owned grocery stores, faced mounting security and operational challenges exposed by the pandemic: PCI-compliance and ransomware risks, aging mixed-vendor firewalls, inconsistent configurations across stores, and slow, error-prone maintenance that threatened store uptime and customer operations.

Bozzuto’s standardized customer networks on the Fortinet Security Fabric—deploying FortiGate NGFWs with FortiManager, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiAuthenticator, FortiEDR (and planned FortiAnalyzer)—and separated back-office from customer traffic with VLANs. Managed by SageNet, the new setup provides centralized backups and fast redeploys (reducing recovery from ~2 hours to ~30 minutes), better threat detection/response, support for VoIP and guest Wi‑Fi, insurance-friendly controls, and lower total cost of ownership with an expected ~1.5‑year payback.
