A Fortinet Case Study
Broward County Public Schools in Florida launched the Digital 5: Pathways to Personalized Learning initiative, equipping every fifth‑grade student at about 100 elementary schools with mobile devices, digital resources and online instruction. That surge in connected devices—about 125,000 on any given day—plus other district digital programs increased bandwidth demand and exposed gaps in the district’s point‑product network security.
The district deployed Fortinet’s FortiGate next‑generation firewall to consolidate traffic shaping, content filtering and other functions into a single platform. FortiGate provided the scalability, flexibility and manageability needed to protect the data center, ensure a safe online experience for students and staff, meet regulatory and E‑rate requirements, and simplify management while reducing overall costs.
