Brazilian Top Supermarket Chain Fortifies Its Operations With Fortinet Secure SD-WAN

Grupo Coutinho is a Brazilian food retail group that operates 42 stores and two e-commerce platforms in Espírito Santo. As the chain expanded, its HQ‑centric on‑premises network became a bottleneck—branch traffic routed through headquarters, manual failovers and on‑site fixes were required, and the company needed to decentralize infrastructure while maintaining cybersecurity and uninterrupted back‑office operations.

With guidance from partner LiveConsult, Grupo Coutinho deployed Fortinet Secure SD‑WAN using FortiGate NGFWs, FortiSwitches and FortiAnalyzer to create a centralized yet distributed network. The new architecture enabled remote monitoring and automated failover, removed the need for dedicated links, improved network segmentation and visibility (including cold‑chain monitoring), and delivered more than 30% savings in IT infrastructure and operations while improving service quality and proactive maintenance.
