Barnabas Health End-to-End Security for Next Generation Distributed Health

Barnabas Health, New Jersey’s largest integrated healthcare system with 10 hospitals, 95 physician practices, and thousands of staff serving millions of patients, needed to secure widely dispersed facilities, mobile/cloud access, and interconnected medical devices. Network engineers had lost confidence in incumbent firewall vendors as products became harder to manage, so IT sought a next-generation solution that offered ease of use, flexible configurations, strong segmentation, and a favorable total cost of ownership.

After evaluating multiple vendors, Barnabas selected Fortinet’s next-generation and internal segmentation firewalls and began connecting about 95 remote sites to its Oceanport datacenter via VPN, deploying different Fortinet models by site needs. The rollout improved performance and uptime, restored engineers’ confidence, reduced management complexity through standardization, and positioned the organization to continue replacing end-of-life appliances and expand Fortinet use across the network.
