OSI Systems’ S2 Global subsidiary builds and configures the hardware and cloud software environments that support OSI’s specialized devices for sectors like healthcare and homeland security. Protecting these customer VPCs with FortiGate next‑generation firewalls in AWS required several hours of manual setup per deployment and left room for one‑off human errors and inconsistent configurations.

S2 Global standardized the firewall baseline and automated provisioning using FortiGate VM for AWS plus an AWS CloudFormation script to create VMs, enable NAT, and initialize networking. The change reduced deployment time by about 80% (now minutes to spin up a firewall and ~40 minutes for the full stack), improved IT efficiency, minimized troubleshooting and errors, and helped the team stay current on security updates.
