Almanac Hotels, a Vienna‑based luxury boutique brand that transforms historic European buildings into high‑end properties, opened Almanac Barcelona in 2018 and faced a major technology challenge: delivering secure, high‑capacity, uninterrupted Wi‑Fi across a solid, thick‑walled historic structure to support guest services (mobile devices, app bookings, VoIP telephony, and HD streaming) and evolving guest expectations.

Almanac deployed an end‑to‑end Fortinet solution—132 FortiAPs, two redundant FortiWLC controllers, two FortiGate firewalls and 31 FortiSwitches—with Virtual Cell technology for seamless roaming and reliable VoIP. The centrally managed network (from Vienna) eliminated the need for a full local IT team, delivered fast, secure connectivity throughout the hotel, boosted guest experience and brand value, and positioned the group to scale the same setup across future properties.
