A Fortinet Case Study
The Village of Schaumburg, a suburban Illinois local government supporting residents and businesses across 26 locations and roughly 1,000 endpoints, faced growing cybersecurity and management challenges from an aging, limited legacy vendor stack. With critical services ranging from utilities to permitting and a very small IT staff, the village needed stronger internal segmentation, better visibility, simpler management, and cost-effective solutions to protect OT systems and third-party contractor access.
Schaumburg deployed Fortinet’s Security Fabric—including FortiGate NGFWs, FortiSwitch, FortiAnalyzer, FortiEDR, FortiClient EMS, FortiSOAR and FortiSRA—bringing unified management, ZTNA, port-level control and automated analytics. The results: security incidents are resolved in less than half the time, one engineer now manages the network across all sites, the entire switching refresh cost less than half what the legacy vendor quoted, and the village reduced spending on point tools while gaining tighter, auditable access for contractors.
