Portuguese Energy Supplier Streamlines Operations with the Fortinet Security Fabric Platform and SOCaaS

Cooperativa Eléctrica do Vale D’Este (CEVE) is a nonprofit electricity cooperative in northern Portugal that embarked on a digital transformation to expand smart‑grid services. The modernization increased attack surface and regulatory pressure (NIS2), while multiple independent management consoles and a small IT/security team reduced visibility and control—especially during an urgent data‑center renovation.

CEVE implemented the Fortinet Security Fabric—FortiGate NGFW clusters, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiClient/FortiEDR, FortiAnalyzer, FortiMail, FortiAuthenticator/Token—and subscribed to FortiGuard SOCaaS and MDR. The converged platform and automated playbooks unified management, tightened segmentation and endpoint protection, sped detection and response, simplified compliance and reporting, provided 24x7 monitoring, and was deployed in about three months without service disruption, improving security, performance and customer trust.
