A Fortinet Case Study
East End Community Health Center, a 70‑person clinic serving eastern Toronto’s underserved and minority populations, faced escalating cybersecurity risks from sophisticated email phishing that often mimicked legitimate staff and partner communications. Its security was fragmented across multiple vendors, devices were nearing end‑of‑life, and a small IT team and tight budget made it difficult to keep up with daily threats and maintain reliable operations.
Working with partner Interware, East End deployed the Fortinet Security Fabric—including FortiGate NGFWs, FortiMail, FortiToken, FortiSwitch, FortiAP and FortiCare—to centralize monitoring, segment the network, add redundancy, enable MFA for VPN access, and secure wired and wireless endpoints. The integrated solution simplified device management, improved protection of PHI/EMR, and filtered out more than 80% of unwanted email, giving the IT team a unified, budget‑aligned defense so clinicians can focus on patient care.
