A Fortinet Case Study
The Village of Glendale Heights, a 30,000-resident municipal government near Chicago, faced a failing 20-year-old phone system that lacked call queuing, in-house auto-attendant management, SIP support, remote work capabilities and was increasingly unreliable—forcing costly reliance on an external integrator and hindering service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Glendale Heights deployed an on-premises FortiVoice solution integrated with FortiGate, FortiAuthenticator and FortiAP, rolling it out in phases over two months. The new system added call queues, manageable auto attendants, voicemail-to-email, scheduled night mode and clearer call visibility, allowing the village to cancel third-party support, speed installs, reduce help-desk tickets and improve caller experience—achieving roughly 50% lower upfront cost versus alternatives and more than 50% savings in support and maintenance compared with the legacy system.
