FormAssembly Helps Nonprofit Organizations Pivot Processes During Global Pandemic

Outward Bound Costa Rica is an outdoor experiential learning organization that fields hundreds of requests from students and adults interested in courses in Costa Rica and Panama. When COVID-19 forced the cancellation of its 2020 summer and fall gap year and semester programs, the team needed a better way to gather updated information from participants and make fast decisions. It had already been using FormAssembly since 2014 to improve organization and efficiency, and turned to FormAssembly’s COVID-19 Assistance Program during the disruption.

Using FormAssembly, Outward Bound Costa Rica built branded inquiry, enrollment, and program change forms with conditional logic, formatting, reports, and the FormAssembly Salesforce Connector. The team could route hundreds of inquiries per day, create contacts in Salesforce immediately, and send enrollment updates and confirmations through its email platform. The new forms also made it easier to collect participant preferences for cancelled programs, and the organization says students have contributed close to 3,000 volunteer hours in the local community.
