How Tripadvisor launched an expansive flexible benefits plan for 2000+ worldwide

Tripadvisor, the global travel platform, needed to replace a patchwork of wellness allowances, travel stipends, and office-equipment reimbursements that were being handled manually across 15 countries. The program created heavy payroll and HR admin work, inconsistent rules, and limited flexibility for employees, while Tripadvisor also wanted to launch a new benefits approach without asking for net-new budget.

Working with Forma, Tripadvisor launched a global Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA) program and used existing spend from wellness, office equipment, and real estate budgets to fund it. Forma helped the team scale the program globally with localized wallets where needed, then expand it to anniversary rewards, a UK travel insurance wallet, and an HSA; utilization rose from 70% to 90%, employee satisfaction reached 98%, and Tripadvisor eliminated manual reimbursement burden while improving budget predictability and making the benefit a recruiting differentiator.
