Rabobank Deploys Building Automation System Security

Rabobank, a Dutch multinational bank, faced rising cyber risks across its building automation systems (HVAC, surveillance, access control and lighting) as physical systems became increasingly networked and exposed. With more than 500 BAS/IoT devices in scope and traditional IT security tools unsuitable for many operational technologies, the bank needed accurate asset inventory, visibility into device behavior, and protections to meet compliance and prevent operational disruptions.

Rabobank deployed Forescout’s SilentDefense agentless solution to automatically discover and profile BAS devices, map the OT network centrally, and monitor communications and behavior. The deployment produced a complete inventory and network map, uncovered firewall misconfigurations and unwanted IT–OT links, exposed weak passwords, unnecessary services and misconfigured devices, and enabled policy enforcement—delivering improved visibility, anomaly detection and a stronger overall security posture.
