Queens College, a CUNY senior college with about 5,000 faculty and staff and nearly 20,000 students, faced growing complexity from college-owned and BYOD devices and had little visibility into what was connecting to its network. The IT team regularly battled widespread malware outbreaks that infected hundreds of machines, forced manual, time-consuming remediation, and caused periodic network outages.

By deploying ForeScout CounterACT (and later integrating it with FireEye), the college gained real-time visibility and asset intelligence, automated policy enforcement and help-desk alerts, and the ability to isolate infected or noncompliant endpoints immediately. The result: infections that once swept the campus were contained to just a few machines, remediation time fell from weeks to hours, network uptime improved to nearly 100%, and the IT team achieved significant time and compliance savings.
