Florida Medical Center Counts on ForeScout to Secure Networks, Establish Accurate Device Inventory and Automate Regulatory Compliance

One of Central Florida’s largest medical centers—13,000 employees and roughly 30,000 endpoints including lifesaving medical devices—faced a major visibility and security challenge. With a lean IT/security staff of six, the hospital needed to identify, classify and manage a heterogeneous mix of corporate, BYOD, vendor and IoT devices without disrupting patient care, and to maintain HIPAA and regulatory compliance while accommodating guest access and new medical equipment.

The center deployed ForeScout CounterACT (agentless) and had it live in two days, gaining real-time discovery, profiling and automated classification of endpoints and medical devices. CounterACT uncovered 4,500 previously unknown devices (about 15%), enabled policy-based access and dynamic network segmentation, orchestrated enforcement with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, tightened outbound controls, and streamlined asset inventory and compliance—delivering significant operational automation plus estimated annual gains of $574,000 in staff efficiency and $174,000 in business productivity.
