A Forerunner Case Study
Key West, Florida, a small island community facing significant flood and hurricane risks, struggled with inefficient floodplain management. Their challenge was consolidating disparate data from various programs and spreadsheets to manage building permits and communicate risks effectively. The city partnered with vendor Forerunner to implement its AI-powered system of intelligence for the built environment.
Using Forerunner's platform, Key West consolidated all its flood risk data and maps into a single, user-friendly system. This solution streamlined workflows, automated resident notifications for substantial improvement/damage thresholds, and provided a public portal for risk awareness. The results included vastly improved data tracking and resident communication, which supports the city's goal of achieving a higher Class 4 rating in the Community Rating System (CRS) program.
