Sarasota County Government needed a consistent, accurate way to forecast more than $1 billion in revenues across departments whose budgets had previously used inconsistent methods and produced highly variable forecasts. To standardize and improve revenue forecasting, the county selected Forecast Pro and its Forecast Pro XE product to support the Office of Financial Planning’s analytic work.

Using Forecast Pro XE, Budget/Management Analyst Robert Kozash built regression-based models for each major revenue stream and a database of nearly 50 local-to-federal economic indicators; the Forecast Pro models routinely came within 2.5% of actual revenues and produced presentation-ready graphs and Excel reports for department review. The accuracy and transparency of Forecast Pro’s dynamic regression approach earned endorsement from an independent economic consultant and recommendation for use across all 67 Florida counties.
