A Forcepoint Case Study
This large U.S. energy provider serving tens of millions of customers faced a complex set of risks: protecting high-profile customer PII, preventing financial fraud tied to energy resale payments, and defending headless substations that could be manipulated to disrupt service. The company needed a comprehensive, non-siloed cybersecurity approach that could scale across people, systems, and critical infrastructure while reducing noise for an already overburdened security team.
Working with Forcepoint, the enterprise deployed an integrated suite—Forcepoint DLP, Behavioral Analytics, and Insider Threat—tuned onsite by embedded engineers to detect anomalous user and entity behavior, prevent data exfiltration, and surface fraud indicators with context. Proofs of concept led to 10 investigations (including three cases of credential sharing and four data-exfiltration incidents), earned DLP “mission-critical” status, reduced false positives, and gave the team faster, prioritized insight to protect customers, funds, and grid operations.
