New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services - Customer Case Study

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) created a Crime Analysis Centers (CACs) initiative to improve public safety by sharing crime intelligence across 11 counties and more than 84 local law enforcement agencies. DCJS needed a robust, scalable and cost‑effective platform that would give each multi‑jurisdictional CAC single‑query access to diverse, constantly changing local data sources without centralized warehousing, while supporting many users, varied architectures and local control.

DCJS deployed Forcepoint’s SureView Analytics, a commercial off‑the‑shelf, federated single‑screen search and analysis platform that handles varied data formats, security and authentication, and enables rapid investigation and information sharing. Launched in 2008 and expanded statewide, the network now accesses over 207 data sources and more than 1 billion records (covering about 67% of crime outside NYC), serves 166 agencies with contributions from 84, provides real‑time hot‑spot mapping for tactical deployment, and has earned multiple industry awards.
