Metro Bank, the UK’s first new High Street bank in over a century with 27 stores and 1,400 colleagues, relied on Office 365, Yammer and AirWatch MDM for collaboration but limited access to the corporate network to protect customer and company data. The bank wanted to enable off‑network access to Office 365 and Yammer to boost productivity, yet felt MDM alone was insufficient to prevent data loss, enforce device‑based policies or deliver the visibility needed for compliance.

After a successful proof‑of‑concept Metro Bank deployed Forcepoint CASB as a cloud‑based in‑line proxy integrated with AirWatch, using certificate‑based self‑enrolment to distinguish managed corporate devices from personal devices. The solution enforced policies that allowed Office 365 only on corporate devices while permitting Yammer on personal devices, provided real‑time visibility and anomaly detection, and let IT block suspicious activity—delivering secure off‑site access, stronger compliance controls and improved collaboration across stores.
