A Forcepoint Case Study
Kootenai Health is a community hospital system in the inland northwest (292-bed main campus in Coeur d’Alene) serving patients across multiple locations with more than 2,600 employees. The organization faced repeated phishing attacks and risky end‑user behavior—users were downloading unwanted software and lacked security awareness—and its incumbent tools provided poor visibility, forcing staff to manually track suspicious activity and risking potential exfiltration of sensitive medical data.
After a successful proof of concept, Kootenai implemented Forcepoint’s web, email and DLP solutions for unified management and behavioral analytics. Deployment delivered rapid ROI: malware/phishing detection rose from about 10% to 60–80%, false positives fell below 0.1%, and in 30 days Forcepoint filtered 726 viruses and flagged 722,331 phishing/spam cases. Combined with quarterly phishing tests and user training, threats are now rare, incidents are blocked before data can leave the network, and the organization has stronger visibility and layered protection.
