A Forcepoint Case Study
An intelligence community customer faced crowded desktops, facilities at capacity, rising power and cooling demands, limited floor space, network proliferation and shrinking budgets while needing secure cross-domain collaboration. They launched an enterprise initiative for a multilevel security desktop standard that would support both high-end tactical operations and low-end administrative users, including a data guard with self-release and two-person human review to enable a “culture of collaboration.”
The customer selected the Forcepoint end-to-end solution—Trusted Thin Client, VMware View VDI, and Trusted Gateway System—which delivers high-resolution video, two-way audio, PCoIP graphics, support for up to eight monitors from a single thin client, rapid multi-directional data transfer, and centralized virtual desktops for easier remediation and maintenance. The deployment cut power, space and cooling costs, accelerated information sharing, reduced workstation moves and provisioning times, and paid for itself in the first year; key outcomes include a 500% increase in desktop workspace capacity, remote access over 1,500 miles with no noticeable latency, estimated annual power savings of $426,000 for ~1,000 users, and more than $20M saved in front-end optimization over seven years.
