The Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) is a nonprofit that supports 1,100+ members — including major utilities — with research, publications, advisory services and events as the energy industry shifted beyond solar into storage, EVs and demand response. SEPA’s legacy membership system couldn’t scale or be customized, offered little real-time insight, prevented most staff from running reports and left only about 20% of users logging in, making it costly and hard to meet marketing and growth goals.
SEPA implemented Fonteva’s enterprise, cloud-based member management on the Salesforce platform to manage marketing, eCommerce, mobile and events with powerful reporting dashboards and automation. The result was dramatically higher adoption (from ~20% to ~90%), automated routine manual processes, clear cost savings and measurable ROI — for example, a membership restructuring task that previously cost ~$20,000 to outsource was completed in-house in four hours.
