Oi leverages its WiFi network as a lead generation tool

Oi, a major Brazilian convergent service provider, wanted to differentiate its broadband and mobile offering while expanding WiFi coverage and improving customer experience. To do this, Oi partnered with Fontech and incorporated its WiFi technology into residential CPEs to create a nationwide hotspot network.

Fontech enabled a fast, hardware-agnostic deployment across Oi’s routers, with default share settings simplifying rollout. The result was more than 2 million hotspots deployed, over 400,000 active users, and new revenue streams, including more than 50,000 new daily connections at peak periods; Oi also used the service to drive top-ups, reduce churn, and generate leads from non-subscribers through ad-supported access.
