A Fontech Case Study
BT, the UK telecom operator, wanted to differentiate its broadband offer, meet growing demand for connectivity from travelers and occasional users, and refresh its brand as an innovative first mover. To do this, BT worked with Fontech to launch a WiFi-based service that extended access beyond the home and monetized its national hotspot network.
Fontech implemented the WiFi solution and hotspot service for BT, enabling broadband subscribers to connect seamlessly on-the-go while also selling pay-per-access WiFi to non-customers and tourists. The results were strong: BT reached over 700,000 active users per month, deployed about 5.5 million hotspots, sold tens of thousands of daily passes, and saw repeat purchases from more than 10% of monthly buyers, alongside reduced churn and stronger brand recognition.
