A FNT Software Case Study
Fraport AG, operator of Frankfurt/Main Airport, needed to manage an extremely large, safety‑critical communications infrastructure spanning 21 km² with 500 buildings, 47,000 km of fiber, 26,000 LAN ports and roughly 400,000 connections and patches. To replace outdated text‑based cable documentation and centralize planning, monitoring and billing, Fraport AG turned to FNT Software and deployed its FNT Command solution as the airport’s central documentation and infrastructure management system.
FNT Software implemented FNT Command across planning, object and order management, junction box and IP/mobile card management, with interfaces to SAP, Cisco Works and the Siemens telephony system and access for ~200 users. The system enabled automated cable‑load alerts, mass data import, faster fault tracing and reduced field visits, and helped Fraport manage ~400,000 connections while achieving measurable results such as 99.999% availability for 26,000 LAN connections (only minutes of downtime in 2011).
