Managing a Global Colocation Business With a Central DCIM System

Colt Technology Services, a hyperscale and colocation data center operator with 14 facilities, faced legacy IT challenges including poor user experience, inconsistent performance and availability, limited B2B/self‑service functionality, and an inability to segment data by region or customer. To modernize its stack and support a hyperscale strategy, Colt partnered with vendor FNT Software, using products such as FNT Command and FNT StagingArea to replace homegrown inventory systems and expand DCIM, connectivity and self‑service capabilities.

FNT Software migrated Colt’s platform to a multi‑cloud environment (Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), extended FNT’s mandator functionality for granular data segregation, and integrated DCIM, connectivity and Enterprise IT management with automated customer notifications and REST APIs. The result was significantly improved system performance and reliability, faster incident resolution aligned to SLAs, and the ability to perform the data migration and segregation needed to support the sale and ongoing dual operations of 12 colocation data centers to Atlas Edge — all while providing scalable, secure access for Colt’s customers and teams.
