Kabel BW, one of Europe’s largest cable network operators serving 2.4 million customers with roughly 72,000 km of coaxial and 10,000 km of fiber, faced a fragmented tool landscape and needed a web‑based, release‑capable central database for its NIS 2.0 project. After a tender, Kabel BW selected FNT Software’s FNT Command (integrated with Autodesk Topobase GIS) to replace custom solutions and standardize planning, inventory and documentation across nine company divisions.

FNT Software implemented FNT Command modules (Tray Management, Junction Box, Netspider, connection/signal trace and reporting), extended the standard product to support coaxial workflows and integrated inventories with Autodesk Topobase. The unified platform delivered faster, more transparent workflows—field technicians gain quicker access to network data for faster fault correction, external service providers can work as tenants (Romania and Serbia), and the project was completed in 1.5 years (vs. a competitor’s 2.5 years), with the system going productive in May 2010.
