IT Services for Public Administration in Four German States

Dataport, the IT service provider for public administration in the German states of Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Bremen and for tax administration in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, needed a standardized, shared order- and transaction-management system to replace its previous lack of order management and to support large-scale telecom and LAN operations. In 2007 Dataport selected FNT Software’s FNT Command to manage telecommunications, cable networks and later LANs and data center operations, and to keep pace with market developments without bearing all development costs internally.

FNT Software implemented FNT Command as an integrated OSS/IT management platform linked to CMDB, ITSM and messaging systems, and as the key tool for migrating and operating Hamburg’s NGN. Today FNT Command manages about 2.7 million switching points (including ~800,000 sockets), 130,000 telephone lines, 2,000 switches, 5,000 cabinets across ~2,000 locations, supports around 220 Dataport employees in cross-functional processes, and handles roughly 10,000 orders per year including invoicing—demonstrating scalable, measurable operational control delivered by FNT Software.
