Education research loan equipment case study

World Class University needed a way to manage the short-term loan of specialist research equipment for its students and researchers, while keeping rapid visibility of what equipment was available within specific date ranges. FMIS provided its Equipment and Maintenance module as part of a full asset tracking and loan service to support booking, issuing, and managing equipment requests.

With FMIS, the university introduced calendar-based pre-booking, Active Directory access for students, full audit trails, email reminders for returns, alerts for overdue items, damage reporting through work orders, lifecycle tracking, and barcode-based audits and transfers. The result was better control of equipment loans, improved accountability, and stronger reporting and planning, including replacement planning and total cost of ownership management.
