Huawei wanted to create a strong launch moment in the UK for the P Smart 2019 and asked FMI Agency to develop an experiential idea for Westfield Stratford City, with plans to roll it out to other shopping centres later. The brand wanted to generate excitement around the handset and give shoppers a hands-on way to engage with the product.

FMI Agency built a branded black phone box activation staffed by two trained product demonstrators, allowing visitors to try the Huawei P Smart 2019 and its AI features on a tethered tablet and handset. A competition tied to the campaign drove further interest, and around 100 possible winners attended the final reveal, with Huawei reporting such a positive response that it is now looking to refresh the idea and extend it with digital screens, illuminated graphics, and wireless charging stations in future centres.
