Case Study: University of Delaware achieves campus-wide space visibility and smarter real-estate decisions with FM:Systems' FMS:Workplace

A FM:Systems Case Study

Preview of the University of Delaware Case Study

How the University of Delaware brings a complex and diverse portfolio into focus with FMS:Workplace

The University of Delaware, a 2,300-acre campus with roughly 10 million square feet of space, needed to modernize how it tracked and reported space utilization. With Dan Yohey hired as Space Manager to create a single source of truth, the challenge was to consolidate diverse, inconsistent facility plans and deliver objective, transparent data that supports planning, reporting and trust across colleges.

UDel implemented FM:Systems’ FMS:Workplace, normalizing floor plans for graphical views and going live within months. The system became a real-time system of record embraced by colleges, enabling better space allocation, informed real estate and leasing decisions (critical during COVID closures), integrations with PeopleSoft and 25Live, and improved student engagement through real‑time resource data.
