A Flyability Case Study
The customer, TVA, an Australia-based engineering firm, faced the challenge of inspecting both the internal and external elements of an overwater railway bridge in Port Adelaide. The internal steel box girder was particularly difficult to access due to its small, complex structure, making traditional methods like crawlers or confined space entry unsafe and inefficient. They engaged vendor Flyability and utilized its Elios 3 drone to conduct the inspection.
Flyability's solution enabled the inspection team to safely fly the Elios 3 drone into the confined girder and around the entire external structure, capturing high-quality visual data. This approach eliminated the need for personnel to enter confined spaces and completed the inspection in a single day, a fraction of the time required by traditional methods. The results provided TVA with a comprehensive assessment to identify maintenance requirements and facilitate fast decision-making for the asset owner.
