The Lyon Metropole faced an emergency when a large sinkhole appeared dangerously close to an apartment building, posing a risk to residents and the structure's foundations. The local authorities needed to investigate the unstable, dark cavity safely and quickly to determine the cause and assess the threat, leading them to engage specialist inspection company Xenodrone, which utilized the Flyability Elios 3 drone.

Flyability's Elios 3 underground drone was deployed to safely fly into the sinkhole, capturing critical LiDAR and visual data in a single four-minute flight without requiring anyone to enter the hazardous area. The solution provided by Flyability delivered a precise 3D model that revealed a 6-meter-deep cavern and identified a spring as the cause, enabling responders to stabilize the area with 63 cubic meters of fill and plan future mitigation with accurate data.
