Government-owned Coal Power Plant cuts 384 hours of shutdown work with Flyability

The customer, a government-owned coal power plant in Australia, faced an emergency shutdown and needed to inspect its furnace. The challenge was that traditional inspections of its 25 coal burners were extremely time-consuming, hazardous due to confined space entry, and costly. The vendor, Flyability, was engaged through its local partner Drone Elevation to provide a solution using the Elios 3 drone.

Flyability's solution involved using the collision-tolerant Elios 3 drone to remotely inspect the furnace and its burners. The drone's 4K video feed allowed the team to visually assess each burner, determining that only 9 of the 25 actually needed to be removed for maintenance. This remote inspection by Flyability eliminated over 300 hours of confined space work, drastically improved safety, and resulted in significant cost savings by avoiding unnecessary disassembly and safety compliance checks.
