A Flyability Case Study
AGL Energy, Australia's largest private electricity generator, faced the challenge of inspecting hazardous and hard-to-access energy infrastructure, such as long penstocks and high-up steam nozzles, while keeping staff safe from confined space and work-at-height risks. To meet this challenge, they turned to Flyability and integrated the Elios 3 drone into their inspection processes.
The solution from Flyability involved using the Elios 3 for remote inspections, leveraging its LiDAR and lighting to survey a collapsed penstock void and assess infrastructure. This provided AGL with precise data, turning guesswork into certainty. The results were significant, with Flyability's solution reducing inspection times by up to 80%, saving hundreds of work hours, and cutting costs by hundreds of thousands of Australian dollars during planned shutdowns, all while dramatically improving worker safety.
