The Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation is a mission-driven grantmaker in Texas supporting environmental protection, social equity, and economic vibrancy; since 1978 the foundation has distributed or pledged over $400 million. Facing anticipated rapid program growth and managing grants with email, Excel and QuickBooks, leadership needed a scalable, configurable system that would handle multiple distinct grant programs and provide better visibility and control.

In 2012 the foundation implemented Fluxx—selected for its configurability and because staff already trusted the platform—which replaced clunky workflows with an intuitive, remote-friendly grants management system. Fluxx enabled real-time monitoring, greater transparency for staff and the board, streamlined processes across programs, and positioned the foundation to handle its expected rapid growth.
